This past weekend I was shooting some engagement shots in Grapevine at the historic trains.  I have shot there in the past and you can spend hours around there and never run in to someone.  Well that was not the case this weekend because it was Thomas the Train day.  There were people on top of people.  So we didn’t get some of the shots we were looking for but a problem came up, how are we going to hide the people, the cars and still get a picture of the couple with the train?  Pull out the wide lens and hope you can get in close.  So I started shooting and started moving in closer and closer to the couple.  I asked them if it bothered them if I got up close to them to get them a great shot.  It’s great when you know the people because they never have a problem.  I am shooting about a foot away from them and people are walking all around us.  You wouldn’t believe it.  I would say it was easier them watching out for people walking in and out of your shoot.  It also helped having an assistant to hold the light and not have to drop a stand.
